FECYT presents the 12th edition of the Survey on the Social Perception of Science and Technology

More than 4,500 interviews conducted and the preparation of the final report consolidate Ikerfel’s participation in one of the benchmark studies on science and society in Spain.
The Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) has presented the results of the 12th edition of the Survey on the Social Perception of Science and Technology, a biennial study that thoroughly analyzes the attitudes, opinions, and habits of Spanish citizens regarding science, technology, and their impact on society.
At Ikerfel, we are proud to have been an active part of this project, taking on both the fieldwork—with more than 4,500 representative interviews throughout the country—and the preparation of the results report that accompanies the official publication of the study.
Among the report’s main findings are:
- 75.8% of the population declares they trust scientific research.
- 81.8% believe that public investment in science and technology should increase.
- 79.4% believe that the results of publicly funded research should be freely available.
- Citizens value the role of science positively, although they demand greater proximity and connection with society.
The Survey of Social Perception of Science and Technology has established itself as a key tool for the design of public policies on scientific communication and for strengthening the link between scientific knowledge and citizens.
