On February 10th, we had the opportunity to participate in the closing ceremony of the “Cuenta con los productos lácteos europeos” campaign, promoted by INLAC, the Interprofessional Dairy Organization, with the support of the European Union. This initiative, over its three years of existence, has achieved 500 million views in Spain and Belgium, consolidating the dairy sector’s image in terms of quality, trust, and sustainability.
Our technical director, Josu Gallego Solaeche, presented the main results of the study conducted by Ikerfel, highlighting how the campaign has contributed to reinforcing the perception of European dairy products as high-quality and sustainable products. In this sense, “The dairy sector is associated with sustainability. It contributes to the development of rural areas, cares for the planet, and supports the consumption of local products,” stated Josu.

The findings of our study point to these main campaign achievements:
- A 5% increase in trust in European dairy products.
- A 6% increase in the association of dairy products with quality.
- 76% of consumers recognize the dairy sector’s role in environmental sustainability.
- 85% highlight its contribution to social sustainability.
Furthermore, our study reflected how consumers have strengthened their awareness of the Recommended Daily Intake (RDA) for dairy products: currently, 48% of households are aware of it, although only 31% comply with it. This shows that there is still work to be done to raise awareness about the importance of dairy consumption in a balanced diet.

The event featured prominent experts such as Leis Rosaura, a member of the Dairy Sustainability Committee; Pepa Muñoz Muñoz, president of the Fundación Española de la Nutrición; and Sofía Alday Martínez de Cestafe, managing director of CONAFE, who shared their knowledge in the roundtable discussion “The Dairy Sector, Committed to the Consumer and to Sustainability.”

The campaign has left a significant mark, and the results demonstrate that the dairy sector has a key opportunity to further consolidate its message of sustainability and health. At Ikerfel, we are proud to have contributed our analyses and will continue working to provide data-driven knowledge to the sector.
